Tuberose Flower Emission, Climate & Land Preparation

Tuberose is a tuberous plant with long, narrow and straight grass-like leaves. The flowers are tubular, viscid and white in colour. 80 to 100 cm. It is very popular as a cut flower as the fragrant flowers bloom one after the other for 6 to 7 days on long stems. Loose flowers are used to make braids and necklaces. The plant gives off its pleasant fragrance when planted in a pot or in a garden, sometimes on the bank.

Emission:

Flowering occurs from tubers. Sometimes it is also made from the tuber part. Usually 2.5 to 3 cm. Diameter tubers should be used for planting.

(A) Improved Varieties :

(1) Single The flowers of this variety have a single garland of white petals. Compared to other varieties, the amount of fragrance in the flower is special.

(2) Double: Petals in this type of flower There are two to three petals so that the flower size looks large and plump. There are pink dots on the top of the flower so it is called pearl double. The flowers are pale yellowish in color with less fragrance than the single variety. It is used as cut flowers.

(3) Bicolor leaf variety: The flowers and stems of this variety are similar to the single flowered variety. But there are yellow stripes on its leaves so that the plant looks beautiful. The fragrance of the flower is moderate.

(B) Hybrid Varieties :

Tuberose research work is done at Lucknow and Bangalore. NBRI Lucknow Ghwara has released two variants namely Rajatarekha and Suvarnarekha. While I.I.H.R., Bangalore Ghwara has released Singer and Prajwal in singles, Suvasini in doubles and Vaibhav in semi-doubles.

Climate:

Weather plants in Tuberose cultivation Plays an important role in growth and flower production. Maximum (40°C) and minimum (10°C) temperatures reduce flower stalk length, weight and quality. Optimum temperature is 20° to 30°C. is Warm and humid climate is favorable for plant growth.

Land:

This crop can grow in different types of soil. But it produces well in well-drained, loamy or sandy loam soils with high moisture holding capacity and high organic matter. Soil pH The score should be 6.5 to 7.5.

Land Preparation:

Land preparation is especially necessary as the Tuberose crop stays in one place for two to three years. For that, fly plowing with a tractor, let the soil heat till the weeds are destroyed. After that, prepare a slightly broken and filled soil. Mix 20 to 30 tons per hectare of powdered manure in the soil one month before planting, then irrigate and plant in suitable size pots.
